Made using relief printmaking, sometimes referred to as block printing or linoleum block printing, is achieved by carving a design into a printing plate made of wood, rubber, linoleum or some other carveable material. What gets carved away shows on the print as white as no ink will reach these areas. Ink is rolled over the carved plate with a brayer and when paper is pressed onto the plate's surface, only the uncarved areas print.
